Instructor – Leap Project
The Workforce Board Lehigh Valley (WBLV) has an opening for an Instructor for our Linking Employment Activities Pre-Release (LEAP) Project. The LEAP Project includes a job center in the Northampton County Jail to provide critical job readiness and employability skills to transitioning offenders to help them get and keep a job when released and to ultimately lower recidivism rates. This position is housed at the Northampton County Jail and will report to the LEAP Project Manager.
The LEAP Instructor will provide instruction to the LEAP participants, help participants make career choices and provide case management to help resolve barriers to employment, and prepare them to transition to PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley upon their release from Jail.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in education/training, workforce, criminal justice or a related field. Minimum of three years’ experience in educational training, workforce, career counseling or corrections with demonstrated success in meeting goals. Ability to collect and work with data. Demonstrated ability in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Successful candidate will be required to obtain all necessary security clearances. This position is housed at the Northampton County Jail. Working in a jail is a unique and sometimes stressful environment. Prior experience working in corrections and with inmates is a plus.
