Position Summary:
The Senior Sales/Underwriting Associate for KTWU is primarily responsible for generating revenue for the general operations of KTWU and any specific KTWU content initiatives.
KTWU has been broadcasting local public television in eastern Kansas and portions of Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma since 1965. KTWU is also broadcast on K30AL-LD translator channel in southeast Kansas. The station license is held by Washburn University with studios located on the Washburn campus in Topeka, Kansas. KTWU provides programs and services that enrich the lives of those reached.
The Senior Sales/Underwriting Associate builds KTWU's business success by identifying, qualifying and selling prospects on KTWU's unique slate of broadcast, digital and new media products.
Essential Job Functions of Position:
Interacts with senior management to review budget needs, budget accomplishments and to establish budget goals.
Identify, cultivate, collaborate and maintain effective professional client relationships (NE Kansas region).
Researches, analyzes and processes pertinent data from a variety of sources (PBS , CPB , other local broadcasters, advertising agencies, print entities, Nielsen, MRI , on-line and mobile providers).
Must recognize trends, set course and assist clients in meeting their objectives through the various services and products of KTWU .
Responsible for developing and recommending new selling techniques, products and services that can be offered by KTWU .
Supervise and support staff to maximize employee performance and facilitate professional growth. As a team leader and motivator, works to build positive and cooperative relationships with staff, encouraging them to work toward individual and departmental goals.
Works to maintain a healthy, fair, and inclusive work environment by promoting diversity, exercising teamwork and collaboration.
Actively promotes a professional workplace culture of mutual respect and collegiality for all members of the institution.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree with 3-4 years of successful work experience in advertising, sales, marketing or public relations.
Preferred: Five years of experience.
Licenses, Certifications & Registrations:
Valid Drivers License with a driving record that meets University standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of public media, non-profit or governmental organizations. Understanding of mobile technology, social media and the selling of digital assets. Must have initiative to secure accounts. Effective communication and organizational skills.
