Lean Leader & Production Supervisor

Introduction: This is a new role in a rapidly growing business. Our facility is continuing its Lean Journey and needs an experienced lean practitioner to rapidly remove waste while acting as a supervisor for specific value streams. Ideal candidates will have experience leading Kaizen events in a manufacturing setting as well as daily supervision. Position Description: The Lean Leader/Production Supervisor is responsible for planning and coordinating all manufacturing activities in order to meet schedule requirements; supervises hourly Coordinators and Associates; and evaluate, coach and discipline employees. He or she works with a cross functional management team providing and interpreting multiple manufacturing reports. He or she is also expected to actively support the SQDCME Scorecard initiatives (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale and Environment) in their respective Business Unit. Lean thinking will be applied to all of the above.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel

- Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations; plans, monitors and appraises results

- Coaches associates while coordinating and enforcing process controls, policies and procedures

- Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating equipment needs

- Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments

- Participates in the selection process of hourly Coordinators

- Completes required audits

- Quantifies opportunities and Facilitates improvements across entire operation

- Mentors and leads broader AVTE organization in Lean thinking and acumen

- Applies values stream thinking and Theory of Constraint approach to improvement efforts

- Leads, promotes and sustains continuous improvement activities

- Assists in the development of standard work for all production activities

- Coordinates and adherers to overall training plan for new associates

- Responsible for delivery schedule attainment

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Certifications, Licenses, Certifications

Six Sigma certification is desired Education

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree (required) in Operations, Engineering or Technology

Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:

Ability to identify OSHA compliance issues and control of hazards

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Skills specific for this position (Required):

Experience implementing lean manufacturing, 5S and other continuous improvement concepts

Ability to lead, motivate and develop direct reports

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills

Understanding of VSM concepts and application

Experience specific for this position (Required):

Demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others

Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously

Proven track record of successful shop floor and overall process improvement success

Proven application of PDCA or DMAIC problem solving methodologies
