UMB Bank NA, seeks a Senior Database Administrator for Kansas City, MO, with option to telecommute, work from anywhere within US.   

The Database Systems team plays a critical role in supporting our database platforms which includes Oracle, SQL Server and DB2 Mainframe.  The team manages data security and privacy including data integrity, conducts data backup and recovery, tunes database performance, and improves query processing performance.  This team is a collection of well-rounded database administrators supporting and maintaining the database environment to ensure high performance to avoid any business disruptions. 

As a Senior Database Administrator, you will manage our Oracle, SQL Server and DB2 Mainframe databases.  Your collaboration with teammates and other technical team members will allow you to identify and mitigate any potential issues with the data.  In turn, this will ensure the integrity of the bank’s data and it is secure.   

The Database Systems team is a close-knit group of database professionals with a shared commitment of providing a strong and robust database environment.  Trust and open communication are the cornerstones of how we roll, and we have plenty of fun while doing it!  Self-education, peer consultation, mentor guidance, and formal training/seminars are some of the methods that we share information and knowledge.  

How you’ll spend your time:  

  • Installing, configuring, maintaining and upgrading the applicable database software on the corresponding hardware platforms. 

  • Proactively monitoring databases and its performance, and tuning the databases accordingly to ensure peak performance. 

  • Tending to regular database backups and performing any recovery activities when required. 

  • Conducting database change management. 

  • Interacting with users and technical teams to ensure data integrity and data security. 

We’re excited to talk with you if:  

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field and at least 4 years of database administration experience, OR at least 7 years of database administration experience.   

  • You have at least 7 years of experience using Oracle (10g/11g/12c), SQL Server (2008R2/2012/2014/2016), and/or DB2 Mainframe.  It is preferred that you have experience with all three databases, but we will provide training on the database with least experience. 

  • You have solid knowledge of the databases and related tools to support, administer or diagnose the RDBMS. 

  • You have experience with UNIX shell scripting, ssh configurations, and PL/SQL including UNIX commands and architecture for an Oracle database. 

  • You have experience with SQL Profiler and SQL Networking including SSAS, SSIS or SSRS for a SQL Server database. 

  • You have solid experience with z/OS for a DB2 database.
