The Supervising Staff Psychologist reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Health & Wellness (AVP) at Truman State University. The position is designed to assist in providing vision and multiculturally competent leadership in the development, marketing, implementation, evaluation and assessment of counseling services and programs designed to support undergraduate, graduate and professional students. This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt position. The position also provides support and services to other campuses, based on a contractual agreement between Truman State University and A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. Direct services will be provided to Missouri-based clients only; consultation may be provided to ATSU Counseling Center staff at other ATSU campuses. Additionally, the Supervising Staff Psychologist will provide training, guidance and supervision for master’s level counselors and social workers and will deliver direct client services necessary for adequate collaboration, consultation and treatment evaluation purposes. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Serve as collaborating & supervising staff psychologist for UCS Counselors through: o Participation in case conferences and assistance with selection of appropriate treatment approaches and formulation of treatment plans with counseling staff. o Assessing client progress with counseling staff and modifying treatment programs accordingly. o Consulting on complex and challenging cases and aiding in determination of continued care versus referral. o Providing crisis intervention &/or consultation in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment. o Providing direct, short-term psychological services to university students when indicated for collaboration, consultation and evaluation of treatment. o Maintaining after-hours availability for consultation with on-call counselor crisis coverage in rotation with AVP throughout the year. • Provide assistance in leadership in the maintenance and development of policy and procedures. • Provide regularly scheduled training for counseling staff. • Assess, identify and diagnose psychological, emotional or behavioral disorders of university students as required for effective supervision/collaboration with counseling staff. • Document in accordance with policies and procedures regarding therapy records; implement and adhere to policies which ensure client confidentiality. • Participate in educational programs, in-service meetings, staff meetings and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques. • Network and consult with University departments including the Office of the VP for Student Affairs, the Student Health Center, the Office of Student Access and Disability Services, the Students of Concern Committee (SOC) and other Student Affairs units. • Provide threat assessments as requested by SOC and/or the VPSA. • Has future potential to provide clinical training and supervision for counseling interns and doctoral students. • Provide services in accordance with the established agreement between Truman State University and A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, including but not limited to: o Provide psychological health screenings for ATSU students as requested by the ATSU Vice President for Student Affairs, and for ATSU employees as time permits o Serve as a consultant for Counseling Center staff regarding individual cases as needed o Provide threat assessments as requested by the VPSA o Provide on-call emergency support to ATSU when ATSU Counselors are not available (i.e. vacation/sick leave) o Provide teaching and instruction for in-service programs and/or academic courses o Additional support, within the scope of the job description, as agreed upon between ATSU and Truman State University. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program • Completion of pre-doctoral Internship at an APA-accredited internship site • Licensure as a psychologist in Missouri or license transfer eligible from out of state, with the ability to obtain licensure in MO within 3 months of start date or as negotiated • Knowledge of federal and state laws, and the ethical principles for mental health practitioners • At least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, which may include internships, externships or fellowships • Experience with wide scope of clinical issues, ranging from developmental issues to more serious psychopathology • Demonstrated commitment to multicultural competence and social justice • Strong written and oral communication skills • Excellent interpersonal skills Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in a university counseling center or in working with college-age individuals • Experience in providing evidence-based treatment • Training and experience with trauma-focused approaches • Experience providing assessment and treatment related to disordered eating, suicidality, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, and/or serious maladaptive behaviors • Experience and training in diversity/inclusion/multicultural competency • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse clients including individuals from ethnically/racially diverse backgrounds and individuals representing various sexual orientations and gender identities • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team • Experience with clinical supervision and consultation • Experience in delivering mental health presentations and training • Experience in performing threat assessments To Apply: Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, academic transcripts and contact information for three professional references.
