Position: Printing Press Operator

 

Job description:

Printing Press Operator in a high-quality flexographic printing environment producing multiple types of labels and printed products. You will be responsible to safely operate, set up, and care for the printing equipment and tooling utilized in the printing process.

As a Press Operator, you will operate a flexographic printing press engaged in the production of printed products in a safe and efficient manner. This includes the set-up of substrates, plates, dies, inks, and coatings as specified in the Production Order. In addition, you will complete quality checks to ensure that the printed product meets all functional requirements. As a press operator, you will be responsible for the correct substrates and materials being used on press and record all required production data into the shop floor data collection system. As needed, you will be required to mount or strip plates, make inks, wash up press components, and complete basic housekeeping and preventive maintenance tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform typical printing press operations to support the production department and its goals. Running all orders as quickly and efficiently as possible while producing a quality product.
  • Review job tickets, direct and aid Press Assistant/s to ensure job is set up properly on the press per required specifications and job notes to include all substrates, inks, plates, dies or other materials or tools required.
  • Accurately log related data and materials in the shop floor data collection system through each step of the job process performed during your shift.
  • Setup and production of each work order per supplied work order specifications. 
  • While running the press, review printed product for quality and consistency related to all aspects including color, registration, die cut and any other specifications applicable.
  • Ensure proper data collection for each job, including job notes on material and time variance.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of the press and print defects. 
  • Maintain the work area and machines in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed company policies and safety regulations.
  • Report all mechanical issues as they arise or occur.
  • Actively participate and encourage others in Safe activities, continuous improvement, and training when offered or required.
  • Additional duties as required.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Must be proactive and detail oriented to catch problems or inconsistencies and bring them to the appropriate personnel’s attention.
  • Good organization skills to manage multiple printed products and different setups each day.
  • Knowledge of press operation and basic troubleshooting requiring minimal aid to complete your daily functions.
  • Should be mechanically inclined to grasp the basics of press operation and preventative maintenance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay scale: Dependent on Applicants job experience.

Job Requirements:

    • Regular attendance is required
    • Flexographic press: 3 + years (Preferred) 
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
