The Surveillance Director is responsible for the effective and efficient management of surveillance of the entire facility operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Utilizing a CCTV system encompassing a high number of cameras with the objective of observing, recording, and describing activities related to compliance with Missouri State Law, Missouri Gaming Commission Rules, Internal Controls, and policies in place to assure the integrity of gaming, protection of corporate assets, and employee/guest safety and security. This position is responsible for directing a team of Surveillance Operators to ensure a successful operation.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS – Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Manage a department whose efforts aim to protect casino assets and adhere to internal controls, Missouri regulations, and procedures.
  2. Manage and maintain a closed network digital surveillance system in a 24x7x365 highly regulated casino environment.
  3. Knowledge of Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, and Poker.
  4. Able to function in multi-task situations.
  5. Make recommendations to the General Manager, based on observations made during Surveillance activity, concerning changes in policies and procedures of other departments with the protection of company assets in mind.
  6. Report all incidents of criminal activity to the General Manager and regulators in a timely manner.
  7. Provide training concerning all aspects of casino operations.
  8. Maintain an environment that emphasizes cooperation, communication, and teamwork with all departments that depend on the surveillance department's support.
  9. Partner with the Security department to conduct investigations of accidents and suspected criminal activities.
  10. Partner with the Security department to protect the customers, employees, and the assets of the property from fire, theft, burglary, assault, and other security issues.
  11. Work department management to review employee-related surveillance reviews.
  12. Ensure accurate reporting and logging of all pertinent information as required.
  13. Review and analyze existing surveillance equipment and recommend new surveillance equipment purchases, installation, and replacements to better meet the needs of the casino on an annual basis.
  14. Develop a plan with the assistance of the IT department to ensure error-free operations of all surveillance systems, including regular testing, evaluation, and inspection of the systems.
  15. Ensure departmental compliance with all regulatory, internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  16. Provide exceptional guest service for all external and internal customers.
  17. Responsible for effectively managing, delegating duties, and the performance and development of department staff, inclusive of interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and termination of staff.
  18. Trains and monitors staff to ensure all gaming regulations and reports are followed according to law.
  19. Review staffing levels to maintain budgeted levels of employment.  Delegate authority and assign responsibilities.
  20. Development of staff, interviews, hires, and complete evaluations. 
  21. Manages department financial data.
  22. Review surveillance room activities.
  23. Manage expenses based on budgeted guidelines and business volumes to include payroll and staffing levels.
  24. Perform all functions of personnel within the span of control, as needed.
  25. Must maintain reasonable accessibility by phone for business purposes.
  26. Support compliance with all internal procedures and regulatory requirements, including those associated with underage and intoxicated guests.
  27. Support current law and policy to provide a work environment free from illegal and discriminatory behavior.
  28. Promote and ensure the safety and security of all guests and employees.
  29. Complete job duties with minimal supervision, maintain acceptable attendance and use appropriate judgment and decision-making skills.
  30. Must be willing/able to work a varied work schedule in order to lead a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  31. Must maintain strict confidentiality, including employee data, player activity, claim activity, financial data, marketing plans, and policies.
  32. Perform all job functions in a safe and responsible manner.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manages and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation surveillance department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma Required. College Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a Surveillance or Casino leader with the ability to supervise and train effectively.
  • Table Games dealing knowledge of all table games offered on the casino floor; and
  • Cage cash handling procedure knowledge.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Missouri Gaming Commission License.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and be approved to drive company vehicles.

SKILLS

  • Must be able to communicate in English in all manners effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position is responsible for report writing and data compilation.
  • Knowledge of casino cheating and theft scams.
  • Advanced mathematical comprehension required.
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience.
  • Ability to use telephone, copy/fax machine, hand-held radio, and any department-specific equipment, tools, and computer software
