Campus Activities Program Coordinator - Student Center (GAB)


The Pittsburg State University Student Center is searching for a Campus Activities Program Coordinator. The primary function of the Program Coordinator/Campus Activities is to advise the Gorilla Activities Board (GAB), provide programming for a minimum of two (2) campus wide events (Welcome Week, Family Day, Apple Day, etc.), develop and conduct leadership trainings, and assist with other events as needed. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

40% Advise the Gorilla Activities Board and the Homecoming Committee, supporting the growth of existing and new programming ideas 

  • Provide guidance through attendance at general meetings, one-on-one officer meetings, and trainings/retreats 

  • Ensure programs are planned, executed, and assessed in accordance with best practices, standards, and university guidelines;  

  • Assist with recruitment and retention; 

  • Attend and support events, including evenings and weekends 

20% Coordinate the development and implementation of at least two campus wide events (Welcome Week, Family Day, Commemoration [Apple] Day, etc.) inclusive of collaborating and coordinating with stakeholders and university partners. 

15% Support general Campus Activities operations 

  • Assist with leadership initiatives, including workshops, retreats, and recognition programs 

  • Assist in developing plans, policies, and procedures 

  • Represent the office when requested including class presentations and event tabling to promote student involvement opportunities 

  • Serve on various university committees 

10% Manage and maintain budgets 

  • Track program expenditures;  

  • Negotiate contracts 

  • Order supplies;  

  • Make travel arrangements;  

  • Administer association memberships;  

  • Other associated duties 

10% Supervise one graduate assistant 

  • Recruit and hire, train and serve as primary contact. 

5% Other duties as assigned; travel as needed 

Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience at Hire -  

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Two years of experience designing, coordinating, facilitating, and evaluating collegiate co-curricular activities and programs 

Preferred Education and Experience -  

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Administration, or related field 

  • Experience working with talent agencies and negotiating contracts 

  • Two years of experience advising collegiate student organizations

Salary:  Commensurate with experience

Job Type:  Unclassified

Appointment Duration:  12 months

Work Schedule:  Full Time – Monday through Friday
