Water is a vital resource for consumers and the environment so we need to take care of this resource today and forever - and PeopleService is a key player in protecting this resource. We provide contract operations to the cities of Drexel, Urich, Chilhowee, Creighton and Centerview providing employees to operate and maintain the city's water/wastewater treatment facilities as well as the distribution and collection systems. Typical duties in water/wastewater: -Add chemicals, such as ammonia or chlorine, to disinfect water or other liquids. -Inspect equipment on a regular basis. -Monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges. -Collect and test water and sewage samples. -Record meter and gauge readings and operational data. -Document and report test results to regulatory agencies. -Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas. -Follow EPA regulations, as well as state regulations and company procedures. -Ensure operating in a safe manner and aware of all safety hazards and proper protective equipment. -Hydrant flushing. -Repairing water mains. -Jetting sewer lines. Qualifications: -REQUIRED TO LIVE WITHIN A 10-30 MIN RESPONSE TIME OF DREXEL AND/OR URICH. -High school diploma or equivalent. -Valid driver's license with clean record. -Exceptional analytical and math skills to perform calculations using formulas. -Strong mechanical aptitude to monitor equipment and gauges, and know when equipment needs repaired or maintained. -Must demonstrate initiative, know what tasks need to be completed without a lot of direction. -Strong communication, both oral and written. Need to feel comfortable conversing knowing when to use tact and diplomacy. -Able to operate a computer utilizing Microsoft Office, as well as comfortable with all technology. -Required to work weekends and on-call based on a rotating schedule.
