A Trooper serves in an operational capacity, with primary duties in safe, efficient traffic, direction, and control. These primary duties include, but are not limited to, accident investigation, criminal investigation, calls for services, assisting travelers, cooperating with other agencies, making arrests, appearing in court, writing reports, conducting or participating in training, and engaging in public relations. A Trooper is subject to an emergency call out on a 24hour a day basis. A Trooper is also required to carry departmentauthorized firearms and may use assigned firearms and other weapons in performance of his/her police enforcement responsibilities. Work is performed under general supervision, while exercising discretion and independent judgment.
