TITLE: Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst
LOCATION: Missouri House of Representatives
Missouri State Capitol Building, Jefferson City, MO
STARTING SALARY: The starting salary range is $65,000 to $75,000 annually with actual starting salary commensurate with applicable education and experience.
DESCRIPTION: The GIS Analyst is a professional nonpartisan staff position that supports the legislative reappointment and redistricting activities of the Missouri Legislature. This temporary position is full time and is eligible for Missouri state employee benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The GIS Analyst position is responsible for providing technical support to members and staff throughout the redistricting process including, but not limited to, working with GIS software to design and produce thematic district maps and statistical reports; analyzing and providing statistical population reports and tables based on redistricting plans and related Census data; effectively presenting data to members and staff; training members and staff on functionality of the redistricting software and applications; and assisting House staff in refining publications and other documents with mapping enhancements, graphics, story maps, and other spatial representations; and other related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a college or university, with a Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Data Science, Computer Science or related field and proficiency in the use of ESRI ArcGIS software, ArcServer software, and other GIS applications. Related experience preferred. Applicants must be able to work independently, exhibit excellent communication and customer service skills and the have the ability to remain objective, nonpartisan, and professional.
