Equipment Operator, with or without CDL

Miami County Kansas Government, Paola KS

 

Miami County Kansas is now taking applications for the Equipment Operator position. Paola Kansas is the county seat and is located less than an hour’s drive from downtown Kansas City. 

 

The Equipment Operator Non CDL Holder performs a set of skilled duties in the training for the operation of a tandem dump truck for the purpose of delivering materials to jobsites and for snow removal during winter operations. Upon obtaining either a Class A or B CDL the employee is promoted to an Equipment Operator II.

 

The Equipment Operator II with CDL performs a variety of skilled duties associated with the operation of all equipment including, but not limited to, tandem trucks, track and rubber excavators, motor graders skid steer loaders, asphalt paver, asphalt roller, chip-spreader, mowers in the repair, maintenance and construction of County roads, bridges and right of way. Truck drivers perform a set of skilled duties in the operation of a tandem dump truck for the purpose of delivering materials to jobsites and for snow removal during winter operations.

 

Position Requirements: Non-CDL

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; 1- 6-months of related experience generally preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required; Must obtain Class B CDL within 6-month introductory period or within 4 attempts.

Position Requirements: CDL

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; plus 1-3 years related experience generally preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Class B CDL required
  • Class A CDL required with tanker endorsement preferred, to operate semi-tractor trailer.

 

Knowledge:

  • Operating procedures for all equipment assigned.
  • Light automotive/construction equipment operation.

 

Hiring Range: NON-CDL $16.40 - $17.90 DOQ

Hiring Range: With CDL $17.55 - $19.15 DOQ
