Engineering Support/Tech Writer
Department: Engineering Reports To: Senior Director of Fleet Engineering

Job Summary:
Responsible for writing work instructions and prototyping vans. Prepares assembly, and component parts for installation into vehicles. Follows work instruction and prototype procedures to help complete prototype builds as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Fosters an environment that enables customer satisfaction both internally and externally
- Assembles and installs component parts for prototypes
- Writes detailed work instructions for installs
- Works with Engineering staff for changes and feedback
- Analyzes various designs and recommends possible solutions
Systems functions/responsibilities:
- Maintains work instructions and specification sheets in PDM
- Inputs and maintains Engineering data in SolidWorks PDM and ERP System (JDE)
- Conducts Fit, Form and Function (FFF) reviews as it relates to upfit locations and prototypes
- Complies with industry standards as well as statutory and regulatory requirements
- Suggests, participates and supports continuous improvement activities
- Hands on assembly and installation required
- Handles other essential tasks as assigned
- Occasion travel required
Job Skills:
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at a time
- Understanding of sheet metal fabrication manufacturing process and materials
- Ability to recognize and follow detailed standards
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with SolidWorks PDM Administration a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
- Must possess mechanical aptitude efficiency
- Ability to work with a team and engage in hands-on work
- JDE knowledge a plus
Qualifications:
- Technical degree or certificate is a plus (design or mechanical engineering).
- 2-4 years of experience in sheet metal design.
