Job Description | The AITG (Arts In The Gap) Events Coordinator/Theater Assistant is responsible for two main functional areas of work; (1) working with the Theater Director and helping with scenic design and construction of sets for the production of events and shows and (2) under the supervision of the department chair, coordinating the efforts of Arts In The Gap Program (AITG): events, performances, workshops, plays, newsletter, advisory council, venues, communications, scheduling, and all activities and events that support, monitor, and implement AITG. Direct supervision of AITG programs, most of which are scheduled during several weeks in the summer. The Coordinator will work with AITG events, monitoring contracts, and developing new events for the AITG Program. The incumbent will offer input on the selection of plays for production; analysis and preparation of the selected plays; preparing budget for builds and construction; work with the Director of Theatre on ordering of building materials; preparing a building schedule; guiding and coaching student assistance on build and strike of show; and overseeing performances of theatre and music program productions. This position will also assist the program director and the LMU Office of Public Relations in the preparation of related promotions and publicity. The successful applicant may assist in teaching one class per semester when needed. Required Qualifications | BA in Fine Arts, Theatre, Humanities, or closely related field; exemplary organization skills; experience working with theater production. |
Preferred Qualifications | MA, MFA, or PhD in Fine Arts, Theatre, Humanities, or closely related field; Experience teaching theater or speech classes. |
