SENIOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (Job Opening ID #507722) Full-time position available with KCMO's Public Works Department, Capital Projects Division, 4721 Coal Mine Rd. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Conducts field inspections according to Public Works' standard specifications, design criteria, data entry, change orders, payment applications, and correspondence for capital and sidewalk construction projects. Provides technical evaluation of sidewalk construction, roadway construction, bridge construction, and quantity measurement. Evaluates sidewalks and curb ramps for ADA compliance and needed repairs. Communicates with internal and external customers. Assists with snow removal on a residential snow route during winter months. REQUIRES high school graduation and 9 years of related and increasingly responsible experience in engineering drawing, mapping, automated mapping, GIS and equipment or CADD, engineering, land survey, construction inspection and related field; OR high school graduation and possession of the Level III Certification as Engineering Technician (ET) as issued by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or a Registered Land Surveyor's License as issued by the Missouri Board of Architects, Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; OR an acceptable combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference for experience managing construction projects and experience in Microsoft Office and e-Builder. Salary Range: $21.88-$34.61/hour. Application Deadline: January 29, 2018.
