The Iowa Department of Natural Resources - Law Enforcement Bureau has openings for five (5) Conservation Officer Positions located in counties across Iowa.

Iowa DNR Conservation Officers work to protect the State's natural resources, provide public safety and educate and serve the general public. Officers enhance, promote, and protect the natural resources of Iowa through public relations, education, and law enforcement, thus ensuring for future generations the rights, privileges and outdoor benefits we now enjoy.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Enforcing laws related to hunting, trapping, fishing, boating, commercial fishing, snowmobiling, and all-terrain vehicles;
  • Investigating incidents involving outdoor recreation;
  • Inspecting game breeders, taxidermists, bait dealers, and other commercial users;
  • Educating adults and children through hunter education, outdoor skills workshops, and other courses;
  • Communicating with schools and community groups through public programs, and with the media through TV, newspaper, and radio shows.
