Main Functions
Manages, maintains, updates, and configures software, hardware, virtual mahcines and networks to ensure security and efficiency of the IT infrastructure. This includes monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues as well as complying with customer and regulatory flow downs including NIST and FAR requirements
This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR (which generally means (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, as specified under applicable law.
Typical Duties
1. Install and configure software and hardware
2. Manage network servers and technology tools, including virtual machines
3. Troubleshoot network, server, and work station issues
4. Provide responsive, courteous service to end users
5. Maintain clear communication with management
6. Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
7 Update processes and written procedures as needed to maintain systems and required protocols, this may include technical manuals, documentation, and IT policies
8. Ensure security through access controls, back ups, and firewalls
9. Upgrade systems as needed with new releases and models
10. Provide training to employees
11. Assist in preparation of annual budget
12. Audit systems, assess outcomes, and take action as appropriate
13. Identify problematic areas and implement timely strategic solutions
14. Work with consultants as needed
Required Skills
Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role
Experience with VMWare including vSphere in an environment with many virtual machines
Experience managing Windows Domains including user security
Experience providing desktop support to end-users in-person and remotely
Knowledge of system security including intrusion detection systems and data back up and recovery
Familiar with various operating systems and platforms
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and manage expectations of managers and end-users
Occassional travel which requires valid drivers license, insurance, and acceptable driving record
Preferred Skills
MCSE and/or MCSA Certified is a plus
Ability to write SQL Queries and basic programming skills a plus
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or related field or Associates degree in computer science, MIS or related field with 2 years experience as systems administrator or high school diploma with a minimum of 5 years as a system administrator
Experience Requirements
2-5 years experience as system administrator or similar function
Physical Requirements
Analytical and problem solving skills, including root cause analysis
Ability to quickly learn new systems and adaptability
Able to lift 30 lbs with occassional kneeling or crouching when hooking up equipment
