Research Safety Officer (REQ13479)
Florida Atlantic University’s Office of Environmental Health is seeking a Research Safety Officer – Boca Raton, FL.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Environmental Health and Safety/Biological Safety Officer, this position conducts activities to advance the animal research health and safety programs and objectives of the university community and promote university-wide compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Such activities may be related, but not limited to biological safety, medical surveillance, animal worker safety, and various other occupational safety and health programs necessary for safe animal research activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.
Experience working in an animal research environment to perform the essential functions of the position required.
Must be able to demonstrate effective project management skills and speak about effective experiences.
Ability to communicate effectively and in multiple formats (spoken and written) to a diverse audience in a clear and succinct manner required.
Experience in biological safety or animal research health and safety compliance enforcement preferred.
Demonstrated experience in delivering effective results within a proactive safety and health at academic and/or research institutions preferred.
Prior responsibilities within safety and health functions preferred.
