Marketing & Communications Coordinator

An opportunity exists for a Marketing & Communications Coordinator at the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) of Kansas City, Missouri. The position is responsible for general marketing and communications for the company. The chosen applicant will work under the general direction of the senior staff.

The position would be responsible for preparing & issuing press releases.

  • Production and content-development for EDC’s website and newsletter.
  • Development and updating of all EDC print materials.
  • Managing the EDC website.
  • Preparing presentations and talking points for EDC staff. Coordination/contract management outside of consultants. Monitoring and responding to external media on behalf of EDC.

The applicant must have a strong background in communications, public relations or marketing. Excellent written, spoken and visual communication skills. Intermediate-level graphic design, layout and typography skills. Strong copywriting skills. Familiarity with the work and mission of EDC and economic development in general. Ability to develop and maintain professional contacts with local media. Ability to multi-task and manage projects on tight timelines.

The qualified candidate must have a bachelor's degree in a marketing related discipline. A minimum of 3 years of general business experience is strongly preferred. Economic development experience is encouraged. The ability to interact and engage with C level executives is a must. A valid driver’s license is required. Kansas City, Missouri residency, or a willingness to relocated within 6 months is a requirement.
