Building Engineer
College of Saint Mary is seeking candidates for a Building Engineer position that will perform a variety
of repair and preventative maintenance duties with an emphasis on the tasks necessary to operate and
maintain HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) systems on campus; maintain swimming pool and
related equipment; and complete general maintenance requests within skill set. This position typically is
scheduled to work 6am – 3pm, Monday – Friday. Occasional evening and weekends may be required for
events or time sensitive projects.
Essential Functions
Operate and maintain HVAC systems
Operate and maintain refrigeration equipment
Perform basic electrical work and plumbing repairs
Maintains pool and related equipment
Assists with snow removal during winter months
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess a general maintenance understanding to make repairs to a wide variety of equipment
and machinery.
Working knowledge of heating, cooling, refrigeration, electronics, and plumbing
Physical strength, skills, and agility necessary to operate tools, climb ladders, carry heavy loads,
and perform repair work on heavy mechanical equipment and to carry out the physically
demanding tasks of the department.
Capable of operating snow removal equipment.
Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
Knowledge and observance of safety precautions
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary trade school certificate/diploma preferred
Building maintenance or construction related trade experience of three years or more
Must have City of Omaha stationary Engineer’s License 3rd grade or better
Must have State of Nebraska Pool Operator’s License or have the ability to obtain license
Must possess valid U.S. driver’s license
Salary:
$25.70/hour to $28.55/hour ($53,456 – $59,384 annually)
