Full-time position available with KCMO’s Public Works Department., Transit Operations Division, Streetcar Vehicle Maintenance Facility Annex, 114 Holmes. Will be filled as either a Maintenance Superintendent, Area Superintendent, Graduate Engineer OR Registered Engineer. Normal Work Days/Hours: Vary; Flexible work schedule with on-call hours. Coordinates with City departments, KC Streetcar Authority, Operations and Maintenance Contractor (OMC), community stakeholders, and others engaged in the delivery of rail transit services to the traveling public. Serves as the Owner’s Representative in daily management and contract oversight of the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of streetcar vehicles and appurtenances. Ensures that City-owned assets are maintained and operated in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications, industry standards and regulations of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Federal Rail Administration (FRA), Transportation Safety Administration (TSA), MODOT State Safety Oversight (MODOT SSO), and other regulatory and government agencies. Snow plowing responsibilities. Out of town travel may be required for training purposes. Knowledge of relevant FTA and/or FRA regulations and APTA standards helpful. Maintenance Superintendent REQUIRES high school graduation and 6 years of experience in maintenance and repair of buildings and infrastructure, including 3 years of supervisory experience. Area Superintendent REQUIRES high school graduation and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the construction or maintenance of public works programs, including 1 year at the level of the City’s General Supervisor; OR an accredited Associate’s degree in engineering or a related field and 3 years of progressively responsible engineering of public works maintenance and construction work, including 1 year at the level of the City’s General Supervisor. Graduate Engineer REQUIRES graduation from an ABET accredited 4-year college or university in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority. Registered Engineer REQUIRES professional engineer registration. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a professional engineer with MO Board for Professional Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for experience in construction of rail transit systems, oversight of rail transit operations and/or rail transit vehicle and passenger equipment maintenance. Salary Range: Maintenance Superintendent = $4,230-$7,385/month; Area Superintendent = $4,230-$7,385/month; Graduate Engineer = $3,957-$6,636/month; Registered Engineer = $4,531-$7,385/month.
