Full-time position available with KCMO’s Parks & Recreation Department, Planning & Design Services, 4600 E. 63rd St Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Manages the design, construction, and modification of Capital Improvement projects including park, recreation, landscape, fountains, monuments, facilities, boulevard, and parkway projects. Performs ADA compliance reviews of plans and inspections for Department projects. Reviews plans, specifications, and quantities for compliance with Department standards. Inspects Department projects to ensure compliance with the specifications and to recommend necessary remediation or operational improvements. Prepares in-house designs of smaller park, recreation, landscape, fountains, monuments, facilities projects. Coordinates and collaborates with the Board, supervisor, staff, stakeholders, and consultants in the preparation of project plans. Represents the Department and provides specific project related information at assigned meetings. Gives presentations and training to staff, stakeholders, civic and professional groups in the field of ADA Compliance. Coordinates and reports on all ADA compliance activities within the Department. Assists with the development of policies through consultation with supervisor and division heads on expansion, operation, maintenance activities, and programs. Confers with officials and other representatives of governmental agencies, consulting firms, and contractors on issues relating to projects being proposed or in progress. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIRES professional architect registration. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a registered architect with MO Board for Professional Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
