Full-time position available with the Health Department, HIV Prevention Division, 240 Troost.
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework available, can be discussed with supervisor. As a condition of employment with the City of Kansas City, Missouri Health Department, all new employees will be required to submit or provide documentation of receiving an influenza (Flu) Vaccination.
This is a grant-funded position that will provide ongoing HIV prevention and sexual health education aimed at increasing the availability of HIV Testing and access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) within the twelve-county Kansas City HIV Prevention region. Conducts PrEP screenings and provides resource navigation for Kansas City Health Department consumers. Distributes and maintains an inventory of HIV testing supplies. Participates in the development and cultivation of locally tailored HIV testing programs in non-clinical settings. Conducts presentations and provides education to raise awareness and understanding of sexual health, HIV Testing and PrEP. Facilitates outreach to clinical institutions, community partners, providers, and high-risk priority populations around the Kansas City region with the goal of increasing engagement in PrEP and HIV Testing activities. Assists the HIV Prevention Coordinator with other objectives and deliverables related to the Ending the HIV Epidemic and CDC Prevention grants. Remains well organized and collects, analyzes and interprets data. Candidates will need to have strong written communication skills and will submit oral and written reports. Works with diverse populations and must have strong interpersonal skills necessary for networking and expanding the program’s impact in the community. Supports the HIV Prevention and Care Services Division with other objectives and deliverables related to the Ending the HIV Epidemic, CDC Prevention, and Ryan White grants. Utilizes strong written communication skills necessary for producing written and oral reports.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
Salary Range: $22.61-$37.16/hour.
