HUMAN RELATIONS SPECIALIST

Full-time position available with KCMO’s
Human Relations Department, Workforce
Division, 414 E. 12 th St. Normal Work
Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00
p.m. Enforces the City's Construction
Workforce Ordinance along with the
Affirmative Action Program for the
Economic Development Corporation of
Kansas City (EDC). Establishes effective
relationships with contractors, unions,
government officials, civic leaders and the
general public. Monitors workforce for all
City construction projects, as well as those
from the statutory agencies, and
Disadvantaged/Minority/Women Business
Enterprise (DMWBE) issues. This includes,
but is not limited to, goal setting, reviewing
contractor utilization plan approvals,
requests for modification, file closeouts, site
visits, investigations, training and monthly
attendance at the following meetings:
Construction Workforce Board (CWB), Tax
Increment Financing (TIF), Land Clearance
for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA),
Planned Industrial Expansion Authority
(PIEA) and other agencies as requested.
Utilizes proficiency in Microsoft Word,
Excel and is able to navigate through
various online database systems to prepare
monthly analysis reports that are presented
to the CWB, TIF, LCRA, PIEA, others
agencies and/or requested by the public.
Must be a self-motivated individual to work
in a fast-paced environment. Exhibits
excellent writing, communication, computer,
customer service and organizational skills.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's
degree and 1 year professional experience at
a legal firm, governmental agency,
intergroup relations, public relations,
education, social work, or related area of
work involving discrimination in
employment, housing and public
accommodation; alternative dispute
resolution; analyzing affirmative action
programs and MBE/WBE programs which
promotes understanding among people
regardless of race, color, religion, ancestry,
or national origin, gender, disability or
sexual orientation.
Salary Range: $19.34-$33.88/hour.
