Parks & Recreation Department, Financial
& Procurement Services Division, 4600 E.
63 rd St. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-
Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Assists with the
development of policies, procedures and
controls through consultation with division
heads on administrative and business
activities, and programs. Performs with and
advises division heads on administrative and
business problems and projects relating to
the assigned areas. Works collaboratively
for solutions and recommendations to
support the mission of the department.
Manages the department’s budget from
development, projections and oversight to
include multi-year forecasting to support a
sustainable park system in perpetuity.
Oversees all financial transactions and
reporting. Ensures adequate controls and
compliance with city, department, generally
accepted accounting principles. Supports
staff responsible for the implementation of
major operating systems such as an asset
management system and paperless payroll
manage. Manages department-wide
procurement of services and commodities.
Serves as a key role in the management of
risk for the organization. Oversees process
improvement initiatives for the department
toward achieving best practices. Implements
and interprets procedures to ensure accurate
and timely data is available for improved
decision making. Serves as the chair or
member of cross divisional committees to
support the department’s mission.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s
degree in accounting, finance, business
administration, or a related area and 6 (OR
an accredited Master’s degree in one of the
previous areas and 4) years of progressively
responsible, professional experience in
corporate or municipal finance including but
not limited to accounting, banking, billing
and collections, debt and investment
portfolio management, financial reporting,
development review, and projecting and
monitoring tax and fee activities, with at
least 2 years of experience in a supervisory
capacity. Salary Range: $5,719-
