Full-time positionavailable with KCMO’s City Planning & Development Department, Plans Review Division, 414 E. 12th St.Will be filled as a Registered Architect OR Architect OR Registered Engineer OR Graduate Engineer. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Reviews plans, specifications and calculations for building code compliance and assists with the interpretation and application of adopted codes, which include Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Fire Protection. Interacts with other divisions, both within and outside the department in the facilitation of the plans review and permitting process. Answers questions from Contractors, Designers, Homeowners, and other interested parties on the submittal and design of building plans, pertaining to the adopted codes and ordinances. Monitors work scheduling, on-time performance and accuracy of own work. Performs computer data entry for information pertinent to plan review projects for which the individual has responsibility. Registered professionals will oversee and train unlicensed reviewers. Registered Architect REQUIRES professional architect registration. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a professional architect with MO Board for Professional Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors. If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.Architect REQUIRESan accredited Bachelor’s degree in architecture. If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.Registered Engineer REQUIRES professional engineer registration. Within 6 months of hire date, must be registered as a professional engineer with MO Board for Professional Architects, Engineers and Land Surveyors.If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City. Graduate Engineer REQUIRES an ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority. If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen as prescribed by the City.Salary Range: Registered Architect/Registered Engineer: $4,531-$7,459/month; Architect/Graduate Engineer: $3,957-$6,702/month.
