Full-time position available with KCMO’s Fire Department, Administration Division, 635 Woodland Ave.
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; some evenings may be necessary.
Works as a liaison between KCFD and our Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and medical providers to ensure our employees receive excellent medical care for workplace injuries while at the same time working to be compliant with our policies and worker’s compensation regulations. Manages injury reports encompassing sending confidential reports/info to the correct need-to-know individuals at KCFD, and processing work comp information. Monitors treatment reports, authorizations, appointment times, TPA response to claim management needs, provider response to claim management needs, and will respond to employee claim questions/complaints/needs. Works with all levels of management and employees at KCFD to convey work restrictions and work status for KCFD employees. Spends almost their entire time on the phone and/or emailing. Confidentiality is an absolute must in this position as handling sensitive information is a part of their daily work duties. Ensures correct, secure and confidential storage of records and will be paramount in the compliance monitoring factor of worker’s compensation. Notifies management of noncompliance related to work comp laws and the CBA/GAGs. Coordinates management of work comp law and KCFD policies/CBA agreements for the effective management of noncompliance. Due to the high level and amount of communication contained within the duties of this position, excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite are required.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, liberal arts or a related field and at least 3 years progressively professional experience in governmental administration or in private sector administration at the level of the City's Administrative Assistant; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the medical field, claims management or with worker’s compensation.
Salary Range: $20.48- $30.71/hour.
