Two full-time positions available with KCMO’s Health Department,
Community & Family Health Education Division, 2400 Troost.
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
As a condition of employment with the City of KCMO Health Department, all new employees will be required to submit or provide documentation of receiving an influenza (Flu) Vaccination. Provides communitywide outreach and awareness around youth and adult mental health and oversees the development of messaging campaigns that promote resilience. The Mental Health Coordinators must have a high degree of cultural competency, some familiarity with program design, and the ability to design engaging youth/adult focused marketing campaigns. Develops, plans, and executes initiatives that aim to increase awareness around youth and adult mental health needs. Conducts education and outreach activities within schools and other youth-serving institutions. Connects parents/families to resources within the community that stabilize the family and support positive youth development. Develops small youth peer groups and adult leadership mentorship. Oversees marketing and social media campaigns, including contests, video production, and other techniques to ensure engagement is sustained. Hours may be nontraditional, including weekends and evenings. While we have worked hard to keep residents safe from Covid-19, we realize that we now need to address the mental health challenges that have arisen as a result of the pandemic. REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of health related work experience, including 1 years at a level comparable to the City’s Public Health Specialist; OR an accredited Master’s degree and 1 year of health related work experience at a level comparable to the City’s Public Health Specialist; OR an accredited Master’s degree in Public Health; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must pass a preemployment drug screen and post offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference will be given to those who are bilingual and/or have educational or work-related experience with mental health.
Salary Range: $24.77-$37.16hour.
