Full-time position available with KCMO’s Housing & Community Development,
Rehab Division, 4400 Dr. MLK Blvd.
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Performs assessments of single family dwellings to identify rehabilitation needs. and housing inspections to assure contract work is completed according to specifications. Must be able to determine the steps necessary to address the rehabilitation or energy conservation needs of a structure with the health, safety and energy efficiency needs of the dwelling in mind. Develops solutions for difficult assignments. Briefs the Program Manager on the status of rehabilitation projects in relationship to the division and objectives. Develops cost estimates that include both hard and soft costs. Confers with persons in person or by telephone requesting service or making complaints on matters of general importance to the department. Disposes of cases handled in accordance with established departmental policies and regulations. Exhibits reasonable independence, resourcefulness and initiative in executing assigned duties and responsibilities. Maintains numerous records
and makes reports as required. Provides a full range of technical support services to participants and contractors in rehabilitation needs of the dwellings. Develops recommendations for program procedures,
changes, modification of technical requirements and applications for programs completion.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction technology, sociology, engineering, architecture, energy conservation or a related field and 1 year of progressively responsible related experience in the applicable specialty; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience. Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. If moving from a non-safety-sensitive position, must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Must possess and maintain either a building analyst certification as awarded by the Building Performance Institute as recognized by Department of Natural Resources within 24 months of hire or a lead occupational license for risk accessor from the State of Missouri Department of Health within 3 months of hire date.
Salary Range: $19.34-$31.22/hour.
