Full-time position available with KCMO’s Health Department, Communicable Disease Prevention Division,
2400 Troost.
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
As a condition of employment with the City of KCMO Health Department, all new employees will be required to submit or provide documentation of receiving an influenza (Flu) Vaccination. Works under the general supervision of the Disease Surveillance, Investigation and Prevention Manager, Communicable Disease Prevention and interacts frequently with the Operations Manager, Clinic Manager and Administrative Manager within the Division. Provides wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. Performs excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Investigates, collects data, records data, analyzes trends, produces reports, graphs, charts and provides lectures and presentations on a variety of communicable diseases (CDs) an necessary. Offers technical assistance to all first-line supervisors (FLS) and diseased Perinatal Hepatitis B, and assists the Data and Special Projects Manager with the quality of the data record system for STIs and other special projects. Lectures and provides seminars to the professional staff, medical staff and to the general public as necessary. Represents the Division and the Department to the media as investigators (Epis) as necessary.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of responsible health related professional experience in the field of public health with the federal, state or local government or in the private health sector, including 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in disease investigation and/or risk assessment;
OR an accredited Master’s degree with an emphasis in disease control or epidemiology and 2 years of responsible health related professional experience in the field of public health with the federal, state or local
government or in the private health sector, which includes 1 year experience in disease investigation and/or risk assessment; OR an accredited Master’s degree in public health and 3 years of responsible health related
professional experience in the field of public health with the federal, state or local government or in the private health sector, including 1 year of experience in disease investigation and/or risk assessment. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
Salary Range: $3,957-$6,769/month.
