Full-time position available with KCMO’s Public Works Department,
Capital Projects Division, 414 East 12th Street.
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Leads and manages the Capital Project Division’s Right-of-Way group. Provides management of all the acquisition of all real estate, easements and rights-of-way needed for Public Works capital projects. Provides
management of transactions and negotiations, in accordance with all city, state and federal regulations governing such acquisitions. Supervises and coordinates professional, technical, and clerical personnel engaged in acquiring real estate, easements and rights-of-way for the City of Kansas City, Missouri as well as frequent
involvement with property owners, neighborhood groups, and other departments and agencies. Prepares legal documents and ordinances, oversees and supervises the maintenance of records. Participates in the periodic audits of case files, provides research and documentation in response to requests for information. Represents the City in court, as needed, to testify on behalf of condemnation cases and other legal cases. Presents ordinance requests to City Council committees. Reviews projects and make work assignments. Assists in the
development of departmental objectives, budgets, and policies through consultation with the City Engineer and Department Director. Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRES an accredited Bachelor’s degree and 6 years professional experience in economic or community
development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, neighborhood development programs or related, with at least 2 years at the level of the City's Development Specialist II; OR an accredited Master's degree in economics, sociology, multi-disciplinary social science or urban affairs, urban planning, public or business administration, engineering, architecture or a related field and 4 years
professional experience in economic or community development work, planning, building codes administration, engineering, architecture, neighborhood development programs or related with at least 2 years at the level of the City's Development Specialist II; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience.
Preference given for Certification/License in land surveying and/or right-of way acquisition.
Salary Range: $4,945-$8,833/month.
