Full-time position available with KCMO’s Neighborhoods Department,
Neighborhood Preservation Division, 414 E. 12 th St.
Normal Work Days/Hours, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., on call on rotating basis.
Conducts investigations and inspections of commercial and residential properties in accordance with Chapter 56, Article V of the Kansas City Missouri Code of Ordinances, the most severe type of residential code violations which pose the most risk to the surrounding areas, therefore the staff must have a working knowledge of
the construction of a structure and the mechanics of a home. Develops extensive legal cases for Law review. Articulates findings of the dangerous conditions that warrant demolition is critical. Prepares clear and concise reports and expresses ideas clearly. Performs extensive research utilizing proficient computer skills and utilizes various City computer software programs. Testifies in Housing and /or Circuit Court, and attends appeal hearings regarding dangerous properties. Responds to emergency requests and works in tandem with KCFD on 24 hour/7 days per week schedule and acts upon such request as needed. Extensive understanding of municipal ordinances pertaining to nuisance violations is desired.
REQUIRES high school graduation and a minimum of 60 semester hours; OR high school graduation and 2 years of experience in institutional or community environmental sanitation or housing or building code enforcement. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
Must possess or be eligible to obtain required police commission from the KCMO Police Department. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as proscribed by the City.
Salary Range: $18.24-$29.44/hour.
