The Central Plains Cement Company is one of five cement companies owned by U.S. headquartered Eagle Materials Inc.  Eagle is a leading U.S. manufacturer and distributor of building materials including Portland cement, concrete and aggregates, gypsum wallboard and recycled paperboard, Eagle has an outstanding portfolio of cement assets with nearly five million tons of annual cement production capacity. Each of the cement plants are highly efficient, appropriately sized and geographically complementary creating a low-cost system for serving target markets.

 

 

Specific Accountabilities:

 

  • Bulk loading and Unloading

  • Using the switch board properly to ensure proper loading of bulk tankers.

  • Understand laws and regulations on how much weight you can put in a bulk tanker.

  • Using bulk loading software correctly to create bill of ladings.

  • Identify problems while loading and correct them in the correct manner.

  • Proper use of equipment to line up and correctly unload railcars.

  • Proper use of switch board to insure proper silo selection.

  • Understanding how much can and needs to be in the silos.

  • Filing and keeping track of bill of ladings.

  • Barge unloading during summer shipping season.



  • Inventory

    • Keeping track and communicating how many rail cars are on site and if they are empty full, or partial.

    • Keeping track and communicating how much product is in the silo’s based on drafts taken or calculations provided.

    • Keeping track of equipment and supplies used to service the terminal.

 

  • Safety

    • Monitor work to insure safety

    • Conduct Risk Assessments

    • Hold Monthly Safety Meetings

    • Insure that information is provided if employees have questions

    • Record incidents

    • Lead by example

    • Put up signage and posters that encourage and remind about safety

    • Insure that monthly inspections like Ladders, machine guards, hoists, fire extinguishers, power tools, and harnesses are done

    • Physically check employees to make sure they are wearing proper PPE

    • Inspect guards to make sure that they are properly functioning

    • Control Lock Out Tag program

    • Enforce Safety Standards to Contractors

    • Make sure that PPE cabinet is always stocked with safety glasses, hard hats, safety vests, work gloves, latex gloves, dust masks, respirators with spare canisters, ear muffs, ear plugs, sweat bands, etc.

    • Make sure that First aid cabinet is always fully stocked with plenty of band aids, medicine, and plenty of gauze and other emergency first aid equipment.

 

  • Logistics

    • Order parts and equipment for projects

    • Make sure that the terminal has the tools it needs for overall operations

    • Maintain a good working relationship with vendors and suppliers

    • Physically going out and studying operations to measure for or decide what to order for a project

 

  • Maintenance and Operations

    • Write standard of operation procedures.

    • Inspect equipment and machinery for any repairs need.

    • Maintenance and repair any equipment or machinery.

    • Inspect all areas for house cleaning and help clean and dispose of waste, scrape, and debris.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High school or General Education Degree (GED).

  • One to six months of related experience or training.

  • Must be able to learn to operate track mobile, skid steer, RBT.

  • Must have good written communication skills and be able to read English.
