Program SpecialistCenter for Behavioral Medicine
The Department of Mental Health is currently recruiting for a Program Specialist to be a part of the Children/Youth Division of the Department of Mental Health. This is an administrative/managerial position which covers a geographic area of 26 counties in Western Missouri and 31 counties in Central Missouri. This position is responsible for providing quality assurance monitoring with DMH contracted providers and processing placements into residential treatment settings. The position must maintain effective working relationships with officials of other state and local agencies, providers, families of children served by DMH, advocacy groups, and the general public. This is accomplished through participating and engaging in a variety of community and regional meetings. Contact is focused on improving and coordinating services and predominately occurs through meetings and telephone. Approximately 75% of each day is spent in some form of contact function. This position also provides consultation with treatment teams regarding programming and available services available for youth. Some overnight travel required.
Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Pharmacology, Nursing, Education, Business, Public or Health Care Administration, or a closely related field; and, four or more years of professional experience in mental health, education, social services, public administration, or a closely related area. Clinical licensure is preferred.
In addition to the educational/work experience requirements, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work independently, but function effectively as a part of a team to meet objectives
