FIRE & SAFETY SPECIALIST
The Fire & Safety Specialist is responsible for establishing, implementing and evaluating the safety programs at Center for Behavioral Medicine. He /she will manage the Environment of Care and Life Safety in order to minimize hazards and reduce injury to the hospital’s patients, visitors and staff and minimize the impact of disasters to the hospital. As the Fire and Safety Specialist, you will oversee the Emergency Operation Plan for the facility, carry out risk assessments, draw up action plans, work with local fire services, investigate accident and injury reports and make recommendations. In addition the Fire and Safety Specialist will train staff in fire prevention and equipment, administer evacuation drills and exercises, and inspect facilities. This role maintains continuous survey readiness through compliance with regulations from a number of regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Minimum qualifications are: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 24 earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Fire Science, Industrial Safety, or a closely related field;OR Four or more years of experience in fire inspection, fire prevention, fire-fighting, and/or implementing overall workplace safety programs; and possession of a high school diploma or proof of high school equivalency.
