Our Opportunity
Alphia, one of the nation's leading custom pet food manufacturing companies, is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager for our Ogden, UT plant. The Accounts Payable Manager provides leadership to the accounts payable group ensuring adequate resources to address the Company’s evolving requirements including hiring, termination, and the conduct of performance reviews. The Accounts Payable Manager will also ensure adherence to procedures for invoicing entry, timely vendor payments, addressing discrepancies, vendor account reconciliations and other duties related to the management of accounts payable for the Company. Critically, the Accounts Payable Manager interfaces with internal stakeholders at various levels (including the executive team). In addition, the Accounts Payable Manager also interfaces with external parties and therefore, this role will require a strong command of the English language including written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to think critically and resolve issues as they arise.
What You’ll Do
- Lead, supervise and set goals for the accounts payable team ensuring performance expectations are in alignment with achieving the Company’s goals and objectives. This will also include hiring, terminations, performance reviews and onboarding/training of new team members.
- Monitor timely data entry of processing various invoice types including inventory, general overhead, subcontractor, and other expense invoices that are presented to the Company. Ensure appropriate authorization (i.e., three-way match procedures, manual approval, etc.…) of invoices in alignment with purchasing authorization matrix or other approval structures as appropriate.
- Oversee all payment transactions such as ACH, wires, paper checks including the preparation of payment proposals to ensure timeliness of payments to vendors. In addition, ensure all payments are authorized per approval matrix.
- Organize and safeguard Company records in relation to accounts payable transactions (i.e., invoices, bills of lading, packing/receiving slips, purchase orders, payment records, etc.…).
- Ensure timely setup of new vendors as well as periodic maintenance of existing vendors by adhering to all master data requirements for set up. In addition, ensure that all appropriate forms are also completed and validated (i.e., W-9, etc.…).
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc forecasting reports including the establishment of key performance indicators (KPI) to adequately monitor the performance of the accounts payable team (i.e., days payables outstanding, etc.…).
- Promote effective, honest, and open communication throughout the accounts payable department and generally throughout the Company.
- Assist with coordination of annual audit, and any other special audits (i.e., sales and use tax), throughout the year.
- Other ad-hoc duties as assigned from time to time.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Minimum Associates Degree in Accounting. Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years accounting experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software
- Strong organizational, communication and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to lead teams to drive results
- Ability to work independently
- Comprehension of analytical reports
- Well organized and ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and excel in handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willing to work in a team environment and contribute to group goals
